Distinctive Honors Club: 1st Annual Coastal Clean-Up

Members of our Distinctive Honors Club (DHC) know that each month we do either a give-a-way or a special event as a way of saying thank you to our wonderful clients! For Septembers special event we decided to host the first ever Annual Coastal Clean-Up as a way to give back to the beautiful beaches we all love so much. As a company that focuses on gorgeous coastal properties, we see it as our duty to do everything we can to keep our beaches clean and safe for all to enjoy, the Ocean Defenders Alliance (ODA) shares that goal.

The ODA has a dedicated team of technical divers who are hard at work, seeking to make coastal waters safer and cleaner for marine wildlife – as well as humans – by permanently removing ocean debris and checking for illegal fishing activities. Sunday morning we gathered near the Belmont Shore Pier and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, complete with coffee, parfaits, other breakfast goodies and a silent auction! With full bellies, we sent our beach clean up crew out to give back to this coastal community, but with a competitive edge. The person who collected the most trash was promised an amazing prize! People of all ages, as young as 3 weeks, eagerly set out to collect plastic and other debris cluttering the beach.

As people returned to the Live Distinctively tent we were so surprised to hear that instead of participating in the competition, many DHC members wished to donate their bags to someone very dear to us. Melissa, who will be participating in 

the Miss Amazing Pageant, came to the Coastal Clean-Up as a way to collect community service hours required to enter the pageant. With the help of our wonderful DHC members, Melissa was the proud winner of our competition and was so happy to be taking home the prize of a Live Distinctively Beach Set-Up, complete with beach chairs, Live Distinctively Towels, a beach ball, and sunscreen.

The proceeds of the silent auction, along with many generous donations, allowed us to raise $560 in honor of the ODA. We are so grateful to the Distinctive Honors Club members and all others who joined us on this beautiful day at the beach and we can\’t wait for next years Annual Coastal Clean-Up.
